The Akwai Hero's League (AHL)
Improving yourself and making major life upgrades is a long journey. Akwai makes that journey more fun and social! The Akwai Hero's League (AHL) is a national competition based on impact. There are 16 teams in 16 cities and adult competitors earn points for their team by making progress on personal goals (internal impact) and by working on philanthropic community projects (external impact). Each week teams face off in head-to-head matchups where the winner is decided based on who earned the most points. No matter what your goals are, every step you take towards personal growth and community service propels you and your team towards victory.
Features and Benefits
1. Goal-Driven Competition
Every year the AHL has two 20-week seasons (summer and winter). At the end of a 4-week playoff tournament, one team will claim the championship crown. Regardless of your geographic location, you can join any team at any point of the year. Each season, you'll set major and minor personal goals. To support you, Akwai provides periodic calls with our Scorekeepers and Coaches. Since 2014, we have been at the forefront of developing and curating valuable methodologies and processes across a wide range of goal categories (e.g. physical wellness, career advancement, hobby engagement, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, moonshot chasing, mental health, passion discovery, and self-actualization).
2. Daily Gameshow Events
We have a virtual video chat space that hosts over 60 live experiences you can attend on your phone or computer. Some events offer opportunities to volunteer for nonprofits, while others pair you with fellow Heroes for uplifting conversations. Our video chat spaces feel like a mixture of Zoom and a video game. You can customize an avatar character and walk around the space – navigating around desks and chairs as you would in a real venue. To make it a truly immersive experience, your avatar can draw on whiteboards, play board games, drive go-carts and much more. When you walk close to someone else’s avatar, their webcam feed appears, and you can speak to them. Events happen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and each one you attend earns points for your team’s AHL matchup!
3. Innovative Professional Development
The AHL gives you access to programmatic activities designed to advance your career and entrepreneurial aspirations. Take on industry-focused initiatives that you can add to your resume. Come up with philanthropic projects to make your mark on the world. Strategize with teammates to win local and national recognition. 4. Weekly Magazine Scorecard
Receive a weekly scorecard that simplifies scoring points and boosts your team's performance in weekly matchups. This tool serves not just as a productivity-enhancing planner, but also as a magazine, showcasing team stats, live events, and the latest AHL news.
5. Follow the Story and Level Up
Go on a cross-country adventure in our sci-fi universe. While your virtual avatar visits each of the AHL's 16 cities, you will earn Jupiter Cards that add bonuses and multipliers to your weekly points. Each Jupiter Card uncovers more of the sci-fi narrative while also introducing various productivity strategies for your goals.
