The AHL (Akwai Hero's League) is a 'hybrid reality' experience designed to help people accomplish goals, meet accountability partners, and succeed in all areas of life. 'Hybrid reality' implies that part of the action occurs in our sci-fi universe, while some unfolds in real life. What follows is the backstory for Akwai’s sci-fi universe.

In 1947 a UFO crashed in Roswell, New Mexico.

Government officials covertly assessed the wreckage.

Small pods containing a mysterious fluid were found near the crash site, identified as a form of nanotechnology liquid.

Publicly they told the world that it was just a “weather balloon”.

Meanwhile, top-secret research focused on reverse-engineering the alien fluid resulted in the discovery of NZ energy. This revolutionary energy form is generated when a Sync Ring interacts with human brainwaves.

As researchers identified the brainwaves that produced the most NZ energy, their experiments began to veer into dangerous territory. This led to a divide among the scientists: some believed it was time to involve the broader government, while others preferred to continue their research autonomously, free from external supervision.

Convinced of NZ energy's potential to provide the world with unlimited, free energy, the scientists intensified their efforts. They began constructing larger and increasingly hazardous experiments.

Once they realized that brainwaves from productivity and philanthropy produced the most NZ energy, their research accelerated. This was during the Cold War, while the U.S. was testing nuclear bombs on American soil. This backdrop allowed NZ researchers to conduct massive weapons tests without raising too many suspicions. But even this leeway wasn’t enough. As NZ technology produced more energy, so did their demand for larger firing ranges.

Eventually, they began testing their NZ energy output by carelessly firing into space. During one of these tests, a star was accidentally destroyed.

Fearing court-martial, the scientists realized they needed to inform other government officials about their secret alien research.

A team of astronomers, holding top-secret security clearances, was recruited to evaluate the damage. As they aimed the observatory's telescope at the location of the destroyed star, what they observed left them in disbelief…

They were astounded to discover that the galaxy containing the destroyed star was now moving toward Earth. Humanity has always revolved around one star - the Sun. Now, billions of stars from that galaxy are on their way. There is no telling what will happen to the gravity in our solar system as those galaxies get closer.

When the news reached the president, he was furious. His team had many questions: 'Why is the galaxy moving? Is this an alien invasion? How close can it get before it destabilizes our solar system? How long until the rest of the world realizes what is coming?'

In 1983, the Millennium Plan was established. This plan, involving a gradual declassification process, aims to slowly inform the public and implement a global strategy to transform Earth into a 'spaceship' to escape the incoming galaxy. Ambitious and akin to a moonshot, it presents more hope than simply awaiting the potential obliteration of our solar system.

Phase 1 of the Millennium Plan went into effect almost 20 years after its inception. In this initial phase, a select group of 100,000 individuals was chosen to receive the top-secret information. These selected professionals, leaders in their respective fields, were ideally situated to generate substantial amounts of NZ energy, owing to the productivity and philanthropy inherent in their industries. With the goal of accelerating mankind's technological advancement, they also received funding to conduct secret research into new applications of NZ energy.

In 2020, when the public was informed about the impending crisis, pandemonium reigned for weeks. The details about the AHL and the Millennium Plan were largely overshadowed in the media, as the focus turned to the threat posed by a seemingly sentient galaxy. However, fear gradually gave way to hope as people began to understand the transformative potential of NZ energy. This shift was also fueled by the fact that the selected AHL Head Coaches were some of the most prolific developers of NZ technologies.

Now, the task of saving the world rests in your hands! Place your Sync Ring on a finger and activate it. This device transforms your brainwaves into NZ energy. It's named 'Sync Ring' because it wirelessly connects to a remote battery that collects the NZ energy. As you participate in productive activities, you'll be charging the battery housed within your Impact Locker.

To fill one battery, you must generate 3,500 NZ. Once a battery is full, your Scorekeeper will swap it with an empty one, bringing the world one battery closer to salvation. To efficiently produce NZ brainwaves, focus on activities that have both external and internal impact. To help you avoid burnout, engage in AHL competitive activities. This makes NZ generation more fun and social.

Remember why we're doing this. If humanity doesn't generate and store enough NZ, we won't have the energy to move Earth out of the path of the billions of stars heading our way. If the gravitational pull doesn’t wipe us out, the entity piloting that galaxy might. Accomplish your goals, save the world!
